Acting governor of Taraba state, Alhaji Garba Umar, has said that no meaningful development can be achieved in an atmosphere of crisis, violent, mayhem and upheaval.
Umar stated this when he came to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national secretariat in Abuja to submit his governorship nomination and expression of interest form to contest the 2015 general elections.
The acting governor, who called on Taraba citizens to eschew violence, said he would do all he can to improve the well-being of the citizens and develop the state.
He explained why he wants to contest the 2015 elections, adding that his action is premised on the quest to consolidate on the achievement he recorded in office and to complete projects inherited from his boss, Governor Danbaba Suntai.
Umar took over from Suntai in an acting capacity following a plane crash in September 25, 2012 that involved the governor.
On the projects he inherited, the acting governors said,
“Contrary to speculation, I did not abandon projects, started by my boss, none of the contracts was terminated. I completed projects by my boss before embarking on new ones.”
He, however, eulogized PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, for sustaining internal democracy in PDP; adding that Mu’azu has given all party members a sense of belonging.
He therefore called on party members to support President Goodluck Jonathan’s Transformation Agenda in order to trigger the development Nigerians have been yearning for.
Meanwhile, PDP has extended return of governorship/ National Assembly and presidential aspirants forms to November 14 and 15, respectively.
