No casualties in Lagos building collapse – LASEMA

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has said there was no casualty from the two-storey building collapse incident in Orile Iganmu area of Lagos state.

The building on Amusu Street collapsed Monday morning as business activities for the day were about to start.

A video of the building while collapsing was recorded by a media executive and blogger, Samuel Olatunji, on his Instagram page.

It could not be ascertained the number of people in the building when it collapsed.

However, a statement by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), signed by its head of Public Affairs Unit, Nosa Okunbor, said its response team said no casualties were recorded during the incident.

Earlier, an official of the agency, who confirmed the incident anonymously said no casualty was recorded.

The official added that the building had been evacuated before the collapse.

“I can confirm to you that the incident happened this morning but there were no casualties. An evacuation already took place before the collapse.”
