NNPC ambush: Shettima donates N.5m, land to each 14 civilian JTF

Maiduguri Borno state government has donated N500,000 cash to each of the 14 Civilian JTF from Magumeri local government area of the state that were killed during the recent ambush of staff of University of Maiduguri on oil exploration. Th e state government also donated full plot of land to each of the families of the deceased civilian JTF in Magumeri to cushion the grief of the bereaved families .

Governor Kashim Shettima made the donation yesterday during the third day funeral prayer of the late Civilian JTF members at Magumeri town, about 30 km away from Maiduguri city. Represented by the state Deputy Governor, Usman Mamman Durkwa, he condoled the people, government of Magumeri LGC and families of the departed souls and prayed God to give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Th e governor also urged them to consider the incident and departure of their loved ones as a destiny from God while assuring that government was not resting in its eff orts to rid the state and north east entirely of Boko Haram insurgents and ensure the full return of peace permanently to the state. Shettima further visited the 5 civilian JTF from Maiduguri Metropolitan Council, MMC of Borno state that sustained various degrees of injuries during the Boko Haram ambush on the oil exploration workers who were responding to treatment in hospital in Maiduguri.

He also assured that the remaining fi ve Civilian JTF missing also involved in the Boko Haram ambush attack recently along with the oil exploration workers were still on search and will be rescued by the security agents and returned to their respective families. Similarly, Shettima yesterday paid condolence visit to the Vice Chancellor of University of Maiduguri, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, over thedeath of his brother Dr. Idrissa Abubakar Njodi, during the third day funeral prayer of the deceased.

Idrissa Njodi was among the fi ve staff of the university killed during the boko Haram ambush on oil exploration workers between Gubio and Magumeri road. Njodi thanked the governor and government of Borno state for their concern and sympathy as well as support to the university. He prayed God to reward the governor abundantly while assuring that the university will continue to pressure the security agencies to search and rescue the missing four staff of the university involved in the ambush by insurgents. Shettima was also represented by his deputy, Durkwa at the third day funeral prayers.
