Adamawa state Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has arrested 280 illegal aliens in the state.
Parading the suspects in Yola, the state Comptroller, Mr. Ubi Ikpi, said the arrest was part of the command renewed effort to ride the border state of illegal aliens and enhance security.
“It is pertinent we ride Adamawa state of miscreants because it is very possible they can compound the security situation in the country since the neither have valid papers nor did they have identifiable places of abode,” Ikpi said.
Ikpi said those arrested were from niegbouring African countries, adding that they would be documented and screened for subsequent deportation.
The comptroller urged for more support and cooperation of the public particularly community leaders in identifying and reporting illegal aliens and criminals in the society to the authorities.
He also lauded the working synergy among the various security outfits in the state and appealed for its sustenance to ensure adequate security in the state.
