NIPR inducts 31 police officers to bloster capacity, professionalism

In a bid to bolster professionalism and enhance capacity, 31 Police Public Relations Officers (PPROs) and Public Relations experts at the Force Public Relations Department, Force Headquarters Abuja, have been inducted into the prestigious National Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) on Thursday, December 14, 2023.

Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a press statement, on Friday in Abuja, said: “The induction ceremony which was conducted by the President and Chairman of the Council of the NIPR, Dr Ike Neliaku, ably represented by the Vice President of the institute, Professor Emmanuel Dandaura, was a highlight of the just concluded Conference and Seminar for Nigeria Police Public Relations Officers and PR Experts held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, from December 11 to14, 2023.

“This initiative is a testament to the  commitment of the force towards fostering continuous training and development among its personnel. The induction of these image managers into the NIPR is in alignment with the Force’s adherence to the standards and criteria outlined in the NIPR Act, 2004, law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, governing professional practice within the clime of Public Relations.”

According to the FORO, “During the induction ceremony, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, represented by the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, CP Olatoye Durosinmi, charged the newly inducted officers to effectively apply their acquired knowledge in their official capacities as spokespersons. “The IGP highlighted the crucial role these officers play in enhancing communication and fostering positive relations between the Police and the general public.”

In the same vein, ACP Adejobi also expressed deep appreciation to the IGP for his staunch support towards the advancement of the Public Relations Department, describing it as unprecedented.

He said the Force reiterated its commitment to upholding professionalism, continual learning, and the strict observance of ethical standards across all operational spheres.
