The Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Prof. Abubakar Sulaiman, has commended President Bola Tinubu on inclusion of person with disability in his government.
President Tinubu had on Thursday this week, appointed a physically challenged Nigerian, Mr. Mohammed Abba Isa, as Senior Special Assistant on Disability Matters.
Hailing the appointment through a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information / Communication , Mrs Joke Akinsanmi , the NILDS boss said Tinubu is a listening President.
President Tinubu he added, had few months back , appointed youth into the federal cabinet on the strength of request made to that effect by him in one of the programmes of NILDS on inclusive governance.
He specifically reccalled the Women in Governance conference organised by NILDS in August, where he solicited for appointment of Youth as Minister of Youth which was obliged by Mr President with appointments of qualified Nigerians below the age of 40 for the positions.
He added that during a recent public dialogue and technical engagement on inclusive governance organised NILDS in collaboration with Westminster , call for inclusion of persons with disabilities , was reiterated by him and graciously acceded to , by the President two days after.
“I wish to graciously thank Mr. President for acting timely and decisively in the appointment of Mr. Mohammed Abba Isa as Senior Special Assistant on Disability Matters.
“This action underscores the responsiveness of our president, portraying him as a leader who listens”, he said .
