Super Falcons young midfielder Deborah Abiodun has said she is thrilled to sign a professional contract with NWSL side Washington Spirit.
Abiodun has signed a three-year deal with a 2028 option.
“I am beyond thrilled to take the next step in my career by joining Washington Spirit,” she said.
“This isn’t just a dream, it’s a purpose I have poured my heart and soul into and ready to give everything I have to the game I love.”
She said Washington Spirit is the perfect choice for her.
“They are a team who care about a player’s growth and development, which makes them a perfect team to achieve my purpose.”
Abiodun spent two seasons at Pitt, where she was a standout player for the Panthers.
In 34 appearances, she netted 10 goals and made three assists, while being named in the All-ACC teams in both seasons.
She featured for the Super Falcons at both the 2023 World Cup and the 2024 Olympics.
