District Head of Badarawa/Malawi in Kaduna state, Alhaji Shehu Ja’e, has noted that the general  problems currently facing the nation were as a result of the negligence of traditional institutions by both government and the people.
Speaking when the Nigeria Urban Reproductive Health Initiative (NURHI) to the District office to round up their four-year programme in the state, he said that the government and people looked up to the traditional institutions only when there were problems in the country.

He noted that there was the need for the people and the government to change their attitude toward traditional institutions, saying that they were the closest to the grassroots.
Alhaji Ja, e called on the both government and the NGOS to involve the traditional institutions in all their activities “if want to NGOS to achieve their goals in the grassroots they must involve the traditional institutions of all levels”.He lamented.

Earlier, while speaking, the district team leader of NURHI,  Kabir Mohammed Abdullahi, said the five-year project that started in 2009 would have been concluded in 2014 “but because we have an extension for seven months, we will be closing by March 2015.”
He said: “We have three components including service delivery components, demand generation and the advocacy component but there are three objectives under the service delivery components which include integrating birth spacing services into existing services within health facilities. For instance, we have post-abortion care, PMTCT, family planning unit and immunization.”
He said the second objective was quality improvement “under which we build capacity and ensure that every nurse/midwife is properly trained to provide the service and also counsel clients.”
