Renowned Wall Street Economist and the founder Greater Tomorrow Integrated Services Nigeria Ltd, Arch. Emeka Okoye has said the Nigeria’s economy is more than percent of European nations GDP including United States of America.
Okoye, who disclosed this in Enugu advised Nigerians who run to Europe thinking that the grass is greener there to have a rethink, stressing that what Nigerian youths needed now more than ever is an opportunity.
“Why would somebody in Nigeria leave Nigeria to go to Europe where things are already established? Most of the people you are going to compete with are not going to allow you as they are all struggling to survive. I pit for anybody from Nigeria to leave the shores of Nigeria to go to Europe in search of greener pasture.
“The philosophy my organisation wants to change is that grass is greener in Europe”, even as he blamed Nigerian leadership for the woes of Nigerians. “Categorically speaking, when you present something to the government and depend on the government you will not get anything achieved not only Nigeria but all over the world. Government is there to create an environment why the private sector builds the nation, but in Nigeria our leaders have refused to show direction”, he maintained
Okoye said 90% of Nigerians always blame the government when government is only there to create the enabling environment. “Government cannot change environment of the people, rather we can change the plight of our people”, stressing that Nigeria is not corrupt as portrayed by the western powers and we are meant to believe.
“Our parents made mistakes but instead of us taken the bull-by-the horn, we sit down complaining and writing big grammar”.
Speaking on the fight against corruption, Okoye said President Buhari may not be an ideal, he is doing his best. “He cannot change Nigeria but his body language is enough to make people afraid, but it is up to the journalists to hold everybody accountable”.
