Nigeria’s current situation not caused by Tinubu – Wife

Wife of the President, Senator Remi Tinubu, has said the current situation in Nigeria was not caused by her husband, President Bola Tinubu.

She said the president has embarked on a mission to fix the country in less than two years of the present administration, assuring that Nigeria will be better in the next two years.

She stated this at the palace of Ooni in Ile-Ife, Osun state, during the visit to the monarch before the commissioning of 2.7km road and unveiling of pavilion named after her by the Ooni of Ife , Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) campus.

Speaking in Yoruba, she said, “What is happening in the country, we are just two years into our administration, we are not the cause of the current situation, we are trying to fix and secure the future.

“I have embarked on several journeys but it seems that people are not seeing what God is doing in the land. Nations across the globe want to do business with us, legally, on the table. There is a government in power now that they know is accountable.

“We know that subsidy has been removed but with God on our side, in the next two years, Nigeria will be greater than this. Those who attempted removing subsidy before could not see it through. But with your prayers, in the next two years, we will build a nation for the future.

“For our youths, there is dignity in hard work, we are building a country where your creativity will be rewarded. God commanded humans to work in the Bible. God worked for six days and rested for a day. We must teach our youths how to work. I am just 64 and I am still working.

“All of us know the importance of work and we must teach our children with love and teach our youths how to start working again. All our fathers on the seat are not lazy, they work but today we see that social media is teaching youths to be lazy. We must not allow them to forget that work is the antidote to poverty.”

The first lady who noted that there are a lot of businesses opportunities despite the poverty, stressed that people are far away from the government, hence the reason they couldn’t explore the opposite in the government.

“People are far away from the government. There are a lot of opportunities at the ministries but people are complaining, yet they failed to approach them. Go to the ministries and take advantage of several government initiatives.

“I want to urge you to be patient. Nigeria wil be great and sweet again. When we started in Lagos many doubted us, they abused us, but see the transformation in Lagos now, it is generating its money and running on its own,” the first lady added.
