Nigerian students in US give host community NYSC experience, issue certificates

The Nigerian students at the University of Arkansas have done what will positively project the image of Nigeria. 

The students have educated their host community on one of the things that bind Nigerians together namely, the National Youth Service Corps.

These Nigerian students did not only educate their host community on this initiative that binds Nigerians together, but they also let the community experience it.

The Nigerian students at the University of Arkansas have done what may be the first of its kind by holding an event that gave their American host community the opportunity to experience the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

According to Legit.ng, the disclosure was made Tuesday, February 4, by a PhD student of the institution, Nnamdi Ezike.

“The Nigerian students at the University of Arkansas on Saturday, 01/01/20, held an event that gave our American host community the opportunity to experience the NYSC.

“We re-enacted the NYSC experience; camp drills, mammy market, parades…” Ezike tweeted.Earlier, the director-general of the NYSC, Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim, finally cleared the air on the fixed amount for the monthly allowance for members of the scheme. Speaking at his recent visit to Bauchi, Ibrahim said that the federal government had approved N33, 000 as the new allowance for corps members. The NYSC boss said that the upward review of the stipend was in line with the new minimum wage approved by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019. He went on to say that payment of the allowance at the new rate had already been provided for in the 2020 national budget
