Nigerian Dancesport Federation holds zonal Championship

 

The Nigeria Dancesport Federation (NDC) has held it’s zonal championship for teams and individuals in preparation for the national championship slated for next year.

Secretary-General Nigeria Dancesport Federation, Mr. Osebeyo Emmanuel, told sports writers in Kaduna on Sunday that winners across the six geopolitical zone have emerged winning amazing prizes, adding that “the Federation intends to stage the competition twice every year apart from our other various state’s competitions.

“We started since 2021, we have had several exhibition before now. The South-west championship took place in Lagos at Rowe Park, the South-south was at Sapele Stadium, South-east championship used Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu, the North-east championship took place at ATBU Bauchi, while the North-west championship took place at Murtala Mohammed Square Kaduna. 

“Since it’s a new Federation, we will be having a lot of competition next year aside from the national championship to make the sport more popular and engage more youth.”

The President of the Federation, Barr. Abubakar Umar, also added that the Dancesport is meant to engage the youth and take them away from the street, help them psychologically and health wise.

“We had an event early this year in Abuja and we hope to continue looking for talents to take the sport to the next level towards attending series of international events at the world level.

“Like the World Dancesport Championships. Dance is a culture, with an abundant talent with dancing skills in Nigeria ,we need to harness them and make Nigeria the best in African Dancesport.”
