Nigeria loses pilgrim in Saudi Arabia

A pilgrim from Ungogo local government area of Kano state has passed on in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
The death was confirmed by the head of medical team of the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON), Dr Ibrahim Kana, yesterday.
He said she died on Tuesday at King Abdulaziz Hospital, Makkah.
Kana said she was diabetic and referred to the hospital from NAHCON’s medical facilities in Mecca.
He said: “On the Makkah mortality, she was our patient.
A Known diabetic and we referred her to King Abdulaziz Hospital in Makkah before she died yesterday (Tuesday).
We have already captured her on our Electronic Health Medical Records System.” The identity of the pilgrim was withheld because the development had not been communicated to the family of the deceased before press time.
Blueprint reports that NAHCON only handles pilgrims’ primary health care, but has an agreement with the government of Saudi Arabia for secondary health care.
