The Atiku Haske Organization has called on the Niger state hovernment to take responsibility for the medical bills of those injured in the tragic tanker explosion at Dikko junction, which claimed 98 lives and left 69 others injured.
In a statement signed by its chairman, Aminu Sani Bello, the group expressed deep sorrow over the incident, which also razed over 20 shops, causing significant economic losses.
“We are heartbroken by the devastating fuel tanker explosion on Saturday, January 18, at Dikko Junction.
“We extend our condolences to the families of the victims and pray for Allah to grant them the strength to bear this tragic loss, ” the statement said.
The organisation highlighted the need for stronger enforcement of road safety regulations, emphasising that such preventable disasters demand urgent action from relevant authorities.
It also appealed to residents to avoid accident scenes involving fuel-laden vehicles due to their highly flammable nature.
In its message of solidarity, the group urged Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago and the Niger state government to lead the efforts in supporting the injured, stating that medical care for the victims would demonstrate compassion and alleviate their suffering.
“While urging citizens and residents of the state to avoid approaching accident sites, especially those involving fuel-laden vehicles, due to their highly explosive nature, it appealed to government to take over bills of the injured victims, the group appealed.
The statement however, concluded with prayers for the repose of the departed souls and a swift recovery for those injured.
