NGO working to institutionalise whistle- blowing, trains Delta journalists

A non-governmental organisation on the platform of African Centre for Media and Information Literacy (AFRICMIL), weekend, said it was working tirelessly to institutionalise whistle-blowing in Nigeria to fight corruption and check other forms of wrongdoing in the society.

AFRICML has trained over 20 journalists from various media outfits on whistle blowing and whistleblower protection in Nigeria.

The one-day workshop was organised by AFRICMIL in collaboration with MacArthur Foundation and PRIMORG with theme:”The Role of Journalists in Promoting Whistle blowing and Whistleblower Protection in Nigeria.”

In his address, Dr Chido Onumah, coordinator, AFRICMIL, said the workshop was aimed at building a new vision of media and information literacy that provides citizens with the skills required for effective social engagement.

He stated that AFRICMIL is offering opportunities to increase positive participation in media and information and communication technology.
