NGO organises dialogue to tackle Southern Kaduna challenges

Worried by the myriad of challenges bedeviling Southern Kaduna, a Non Governmental Organization, Tinam’s Voice, has organized a dialogue with a view to charting a new course for the area.

The dialogue held in Kafanchan yesterday, harped on a wide range of issues including insecurity, economy, education and politics among others.

The Convener of the meeting, Deborah Yusuf in her opening remarks lamented that currently, insecurity is the first thing that comes to mind in any conversation that concerns Southern Kaduna.

Yusuf, who said the region had suffered and cried for too long without any enduring solution in sight, urged the participants to proffer solutions to the lingering killings in the area by contributing meaningfully to the conversation.

Deborah Yusuf said though attempts have been made in the past to address the challenges at different fora with little or no success, the people must not grow weary but insist on holding the conversations until lasting solution is found to guarantee meaningful development of the area.

In a keynote address, Pastor Gideon Mutum of the Governor’s Assembly, Kafanchan challenged the people of Southern Kaduna to take their destiny into their hands as the first step towards overcoming the challenges.

Pastor Mutum said adequate sensitization and awareness must be made on the issues with the provision of a common ground for result oriented conversations by all stakeholders to tackle the issues headlong.

The meeting which also featured a panel of discussants, who dissected the challenges and proffered solutions was principally targeted at youth and students.
