NFF undecided on pay cut in Rohr’s contract extension

Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) is yet to agree on how much Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr should earn under the terms of his proposed new contract NFF president Amaju Pinnick has said.

Rohr currently earns a tax-free monthly salary of $55,000 on his current contract which runs out in June.

The NFF has already made it clear that an extension for the Franco-German will be tied to some fresh conditions such as living in Nigeria and paying taxes on his salary.

Taxing Rohr’s salary effectively means a pay cut for the former Bordeaux manager except the proposed new contract compensates for the shortfall by significantly improving his monthly pay.

But Pinnick our source said has not held any discussions on a new contract as the final details of the proposed extension for Rohr is scheduled for London next month.

The federation’s 1st vice-president Seyi Akinwunmi will take charge of contract negotiations with Gernot Rohr at the proposed February meeting in London.

“In the next few weeks, the first Vice President (Seyi Akinwunmi) who is on the legal team, will lead a committee with chairmen of Technical, Establishment, Marketing, Secretary-General and Head of Legal to sit down with him (Rohr) physically and look at the nitty-gritty and tell him, ‘Look at our situation. Can you do this and that?’ If he says yes, why not? Whether we like it or not, he has done quite a lot,” Pinnick was quoted saying
