In a bid to intimate Nigerians Referees of the latest developments in game of football, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will this weekend organize a refresher course for about 800 referees in the four geo-political zones of the country.
Disclosing this to Blueprint Sport at NFF’s headquarters in Abuja, head of Referees Committee in the federation, Mr. Sunday Okayi, said the one-day course would hold in four designated centers across the country.
The centers are Abuja, Lagos, Owerri and Kano.
Mr. Okayi also revealed that except for Kano which is slated for Sunday, other centers would hold theirs tomorrow.
According to him, “There are about 200 Referees who will be participating in each of the zones. And those who passed our previous fitness test and those who could not will be allowed to take part. Why everyone will participate is that some could still pass the forthcoming copper test slated to hold in March.
About 100 referees will be on duty when the new Nigeria National League (NNL) kicks off this weekend but NFF’s head of referees stated: “As for those who will officiate this weekend, we intend to organize their own seminar separately because we can’t afford to allow them not to be aware of the latest development in the game.
