NFF crisis: FA Chairmen shun congress, fix Sept 4 for election

Piqued by the manner in which the outgoing President of Nigeria Football Federation, Aminu Maigari and the General Secretary, Musa Amadu, were arrested yesterday, the State Football Associations Chairmen have declared that the country’s football is, indeed, in crisis.
Maigari, was arrested earlier in the day by men of the Department of State Service (DSS) alongside NFF Scribe, Musa Amadu and a Board member, Christopher Green, for undisclosed reason.
Consequently, the chairmen decided to head to the DSS Headquarters to press for their release but were ambushed on the way around Maitama, by security operatives who detained them for hours by the roadside.
Not bothered by the seeming humiliation, the FA chairmen decided to hold what they called ‘a pre-congress’ meeting and took major decisions as follows:.
That, the NFF Electoral Committee under the chairmanship of Amoni Biambo, stands dissolved.
That, an elective Congress will hold on September 4, 2014 in Calabar, Cross Rivers State.
That, Aminu Maigari, must remain in charge and preside over the September 4 elective congress in Calabar.
Also, they approved the reconstitution of Electoral Committee to usher in new Executive Committee. The committee members are: Sampson Ebomhe, M.T Ahmed, Olumide Oluyemi, Adamu Sani Osmond, Sadiq Yusuf Zaria, Chimdi Ojiohu, Onyeghala Obioma, Adeola Adelawu, Sani Dahiru Yakasai and Musa Amadu as Secretary.
To serve on the Election Appeals Committee are: Okey Ajunwa, Dotun Coker, Sani Mohammed while Dr. Mohammed Sanusi will serve as Secretary.
Defending the decisions of the pre-congress, Emeka Inyama, who chaired the Media Committee of the outgoing board, contended that government went against the agreement reached at the meeting with the SGF on Sunday.
He wondered why government would order the arrest of the President and the General Secretary who ought to play crucial role at the congress.
“Anywhere there is a majority member, congress sits. We must tell the honest truth, Nigerian football is in crisis.
