New nomadic education commission’s boss assumes office

The new Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Nomadic Education (NCNE), Prof. Rashid Adewunmi Aderinoye, has assumed office, and charged the staff to show their commitment to duty by working assiduously to ensure that ” the underserved populations of the target groups are reached with quality basic education.”

Aderinoye, who stated this at his inaugural meeting with the staff, decried the poor state of the nomadic in the country despite their contributions to national resources.
According to him, only education can bring them out of the woods. He said if the sedentary population was still grappling with issues of basic education, the situation would be more adverse with nomads.

“This will give room to reach the underserved of our target groups; for the human and financial resources needed to accomplish the goals, there must be a programme to reach the target groups,” he said. Responding, on behalf of the staff, the Director, Monitoring, Evaluation and Statistics, Malam Ibrahim Yamta, congratulated Aderinoye on his appointment and assured of the staff’s cooperation “to see that the Commission reaches its target groups within a short period.”
