New ministers, others: APC chieftain tasks Buhari on credibility, integrity

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, Alhaji Abdulmajid Danbilki Commander, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to consider credibility and integrity as major yardsticks in appointing members of his cabinet.

Speaking to newsmen on the list of ministerial nominees, Commander said there was the need for proper scrutiny of the nominees to ensure effective performance.

He said, “Take for example, the allocation of the slots  given to Bayelsa and Edo states, respectively, which contributions have they given to the  election of the president? To me, giving them equal slots in the way it was given to Kano, Kaduna and Katsina states is counter-productive. One can simply reach the conclusion that Edo was simply favoured because of the influence of the APC national chairman.

“No one has any incontrovertible reason to doubt the contributions given to the president on his election in 2015 and 2019 by states like Kano, Kaduna and Katsina. No amount of leverage could ever make people from other parts of the country to appreciate the laudable gesture accorded them by the president. This is a fact one cannot dismiss.

“As far as Kano is concerned, we have our two ministerial nominees in persons of Bashir Salihi Magashi and Alhaji Sabo Nanono. Those who were not conversant with their political antecedents are seeking to know their respective pedigrees. The best way to know them is when the screening is taking place; this is quite important as people would get to know them individually.”

Commander said the Buhari administration was on course to “projecting a rosy future for the nation taking into account his penchant for serving humanity with vigour.”
