Following blast that occurred at the largest Boko Haram Internally displaced persons (IDPs), Malkohi Camp in Yola, the Adamawa state capital, security has been beefed up around all the six camps, just as the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Muhammad Sani- Sidi, commiserated with the victims currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Yola.
At the Malkohi camp, which came under attack last Friday, during which seven people were killed, Sani-Sidi promised the displaced persons from Borno state that “very soon, the federal government will ensure that you are evacuated to your state in no distant future.”
He noted that the agency was working with security agencies to increase the presence of security personnel around all IDPs camps across the region to ensure security of inhabitants.

He said: “As a last resort, the Boko Haram, whose fighting power has been seriously degraded, would resort to guerrilla fighting and bombing of soft targets; so, we are urging you inhabitants of the IDP Camps across the region to be more vigilant and report with any suspicious face or move.
“I want to assure you of tight security around all IDP camps, and please report suspicious movements and persons to the security operatives.”
Responding to complaints by the IDPs, the NEMA boss assured that enough drugs would be provided for them, saying “NEMA has entered an agreement with two hospitals in the state capital to provide medical care to IDPs.”

Earlier on, Deputy Governor of Adamawa State Mr. Martins Babale said the security agents needed to screen all the IDPs deported by the Cameroon government to avoid reoccurrence of suicide attacks witnessed at the Madagali Market and Makohi IDPs camp.
The deputy governor, who received the NEMA boss, said Governor Jibrilla Bindow would not relent in his efforts to make the state safer for the IDPs.
He said the state government would provide lightening across IDP camps in the state to enhance security across all the facilities.
