NEDC rounds off inspection, assures speedy completion of projects

Management of the North East Development Commission (NEDC) has rounded up its projects tours of Adamawa state with a promise to speed up the completion of all ongoing projects in the North-east. 

The inspection tour  took the Managing Director, Mohammed Goni Alkali, and other members of the management to Yola South, Yola North, Song, Gombi, Hong, Michika, Madagali, Mubi North, Mubi South and Guyuk local government areas across the 3 senatorial districts of the state where various projects ranging from education, health, roads networks, bridges, water, skills acquisition among others were inspected.

Some of the projects inspected include the 500 mass housing estate, accident and emergency unit at Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital Yola, many motorised boreholes at FCE Yola and other locations within the state capital.

Others were the multi-billion naira NEDC mega schools located in the senatorial districts of the state, access road network at the College of Education Hong. 32 kilometer Garkida-Dabna road, Dilchin bridge, skills acquisition centres, water supply and many other projects in Michika, Mubi North and Mubi South, respectively.

Speaking in an interview with journalists at the end of the inspection tour, the MD of NEDC, Mohammed Goni Alkali, said that the commission under his watch has executed many projects across the six states in the region; hence the decision to go round the states to see the progress of work being down and to assess the situation for necessary action.

He expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done in most of the sites visited and assured the people of speedy completion of all ongoing projects, while stressing that the commission would address the challenges militating against the completion of some of the projects after careful assessment.

According to him, “the commission will continue to live up to its responsibility of bringing succour to the people of the North East as encapsulated in our mandate. We will continue to work in collaboration with the state governments in the region to address the challenges bedevilling the people of the North East.”

Most of those who spoke at the various project sites visited, including community leaders, heads of institutions and beneficiaries of the projects, commended the Mohammed Alkali-led NEDC for its various life-saving interventions with some making more demands from the commission.
