NEDC board visits contract sites, assures of more projects 

In continuation of its ongoing inspections of projects across the North East states, the newly reconstituted board and management of the North East Development Commission (NEDC)  has rounded up projects inspection in Adamawa state with an assurances to expect do more projects in the region.

The inspection tour led by the chairman of the NEDC Board, Gen. Paul Terfa (rtd) took the members to NEDC mega schools in Song local government area of the state, skills acquisition centre in Gerei local government as well as the ongoing construction of accident and emergency unit at the Federal Medical Centre, Yola.

Speaking in an interview with journalists in Song, the Managing Director of NEDC, Mohammed Goni Alkali, told the people of the state and the region to expect more projects from the Commission, stressing that their best was yet to come.

He explained that the last time they were in the state, the projects were in foundation stage but that, with the new board constituted, there was the need to visit the project sites across the North East states to see the progress of work with the view to making observations and adjustments where necessary to ensure timely completion of the projects.

According to him, there are18 of the NEDC mega schools across the 6 North East states and 3 located in Adamawa state across the 3 senatorial districts.

Chairman of the Board, Gen Paul Terfa (rtd), expressed satisfaction with the quality of work carried out at the project sites by the contractors handling them, describing it as highly commendable and urged them to complete the jobs within specification time.

The board had paid a courtesy visit to Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and the Lamido of Adamawa, Dr. Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha where they introduced the new members and briefed them on their mission to the state.

Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri commended the new NEDC board for their various projects and interventions in the state and urged them to allow governors in the region identify priority needs of their people for the commission’s interventions

The Lamido of Adamawa, Dr Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, represented by the Galadiman Adamawa, Alh Mustapha Aminu also applauded the Mohammed Alkali-led leadership of NEDC for their achievements in the last 4 years and assured them of synergy and collaboration for the benefits of the people of the states.
