NEC demands comprehensive measures to end crude oil theft

The National Economic Council (NEC) has directed its sub-committee on crude oil theft to provide comprehensive recommendations to end the menace.

Addressing State House correspondents at the end of the NEC meeting presided over by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo state said the commitee was mandated to bring the recommendations at the next council’s meeting.

He said the committee was determined to address the perennial problem of oil theft in the country.

Also speaking, Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano state said the council also approved the constitution of the board of the Niger Delta Power Holding.

He said the agency had operated for a long time without a supervising board.

He said the new board was made up of governors of Borno, Katsina, Imo, Ekiti, Kwara, and Akwa Ibom states representing the six geo-political zones.

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, briefed the council on the activation of the Presidential food systems coordinating unit chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
