The Director General National Directorate of Employment (NDE) Hon. Silas Agara, has reassured of the directorate’s commitment to support nano and small scale enterprises aimed at creating job opportunities for the teeming youth of Nigeria.
DG Agara made the commitment at the formal resettlement of some beneficiaries of the directorate start-up parks in Jos.
Represented by the state coordinator of NDE, Emmanuel Dimka, Hon. Agara said the scheme under the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative, has trained 33,692 unemployed Nigerian youth, women and Persons Living with Disabilities.
He said the scheme anchored on three pillars of skills development, resettlement funds and job creation respectively.
“This initiative has culminated into the launching of resettlement of the trained beneficiaries, the goal of which is to empower participants to become not only self-employed but employers of labour.
“A total number of Five Thousand Five Hundred and Thirty-Two beneficiaries will be resettled with loans and starter packs nationwide to enable the establishment of their own businesses.
“By providing beneficiaries with loan facilities, access to finance, starter packs the directorate hopes to support the establishment of nano, micro and small scale enterprises,” he assured.
Mr Ebenezer Dauda on behalf of all beneficiaries said they are grateful to the federal government for training and empowering them.
“It gladding us that the federal government is making us to do things that will help us. We thank NDE,” he stated.
