The Director, Consumer Affairs Bureau of the Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC), Alhaji Abdullahi MaiKano, yesterday, urged consumers to register all their network sim cards to avoid being defrauded by defaulters.
He dropped the warning yesterday at the 2017 year of the Nigerian telecom consumer meeting held at Arugungu in Kebbi state, noting that the registration of the sim card is to help block criminal activities.
Abdulahi further emphasised that the aim was to ensure that the telecom consumers are well protected, informed and educated, saying the Commission developed series of initiatives with the goal of empowering consumers with appropriate information that will ensure that their rights are protected and their choices provide them with value for money.
In his remark, the Vice Chairman andChief Executive of NCC, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, represented by Alhaji Ismail Adedigba, said the NCC believed that the consumer is the king.
“The programmme is to enable tripartite meeting between regulators, operators and consumers to resolve pressing consumer issues as they relate to provision of telecom services. The programme is also designed to educate consumers of telecom services on their basic rights and privileges as well as creating awareness on various issues relating to provision and usage of telecom services,” he said.
