NBA Owerri branch, Oweno foundation end medical outreach

The Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Owerri Branch and Oweno Foundation  have ended their one day medical outreach in Owerri, the Imo state capital.

During the outreach which held at the Bar centre in the premises of the old Owerri High Court, different tests such as prostrate cancer screening, prostrate test, blood sugar, HIV test, syphilis, blood pressure, weight check, temperature check and family planning services were conducted.

Commenting on the programme, the NBA chairman Owerri Branch, Barr Chris Ihemtuge, said it was his campaign promise to have a medical outreach to check sudden health issues among members of his association and was happy that it came to pass.

He assured that it would be done on a regular basis as members of the public would be welcome.

Also commenting, the representative of Oweno Foundation, the sponsors of the outreach, Princess (Barr.) Ngozi Eucharia Anyanwu said the organisation which also gets sponsorship from international agencies, decided to come to Nigeria to continue its work after establishing their presence abroad, adding that the last outreach was for women but that they decided to include the men this time around to check prostrate challenges which had become  life-threatening these days.

She advised the public to always do regular health checks to avoid emergency situations.

One of the beneficiaries of the exercise, a retired permanent secretary in the state, Sir Austin Otuokere, commended NBA Owerri Branch and Oweno Foundation for their foresight, saying that some grey areas about his health status had now been cleared.
