Players of Globacom Premier League side, Heartland FC of Owerri, have been placed on half salaries following their two home draws with Dolphins and Sharks of Port Harcourt and an away loss to newly prompted side, Crown FC of Ogbomosho in the on-going season.
According to the Imo state Commissioner for Sports, Comrade Kenneth Emelu, who handed down the order immediately after the side’s goalless draw with Sharks FC at the Dan Anyiam Stadium last Friday, the team were required to win their next two home matches and two away matches before full pay would be restored.
The commissioner saw no reason why the team could not measure up to expectations in spite of the fact that the state government had improved the welfare of the team by enhancing their salaries and increasing their yearly subvention astronomically.
