NAWIS hails Sanusi’s tenure extension as NFF scribe, preaches more women inclusion into football administration

The National Association for Women in Sports (NAWIS) has issued a statement felicitating with Dr. Mohammed Sanusi on his recent re-appointment as the General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The statement signed by President of NAWIS, Professor Mariam Suleiman, on behalf of the executive committee, and members of the association, an umbrella body for active and former sportswomen in the country; and made available to reporters in Abuja, simply described Dr. Sanusi’s reappointment as; “apt, fitting and well-deserved”.

NAWIS however called on Dr. Sanusi, who is also the 1st Vice President of NAPHER-SD, to see his historic and record tenure extension as an opportunity to surpass the good job he has put-in, in uplifting the nation’s football.

The statement read in parts, “While we are in no doubt that your track record so far has been top notch, all these while; we call on you to use your next five years on the saddle to champion the inclusion of more women in the policy-making, and administrative organs of football in the country”.

Professor Suleiman further noted that, considering the towering exploits of the Super Falcons on the African continent, the accolades the players have won for themselves and the country in Africa, and the Diaspora; and outstanding performances by women in other facets of sports, the inclusion of more women in the running of Nigeria footballing is long over due, and compelling.

The NAWIS helmswoman, prayed to God to continue to grant Dr. Sanusi the good health, divine wisdom and guidance, as he fulfills the responsibilities of his highly exalted office.
