NASS election: APC chieftain seeks Wamakko’s disqualification

A chieftain of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto state, Alhaji Sadiq Abubakar Mohammed has dragged Hon. Abduliahi Mohammed Wamakko, to court, seeking his disqualification from the green chamber.
Abubakar in a petition to the Nigerian Police and the Directorate of the State Security Service (DSS), alleged that the immediate past Governor of the state, Aliyu Wammako, stage managed to favour his younger brother Hon, Abdullahi Wamakko, which he was not comfortable with.

He explained further in petition through his Counsel, Ikechukwu Ezechukwu, (SAN) & Co., that he contested the APC Primaries for the same constituency with Hon. Wammako but seeking his disqualification on the ground that “Wamakko in his INEC Form CF001 submitted to the INECHeadquarters Abuja, gave false information to the INEC, and as such, should be disqualified in accordance with Section 31(5) of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended).”

He alleged that “Hon. Wamakko falsely claimed that he attended the Polytechnic of Sokoto State, Talala Mafan between 1992 and 1993, where he obtained Certificate in Public Accounting and Auditing, (CPM) and that he also attended the Polytechnic Birnin Kebbi, between 2000 to 2002, where he obtained Higher Polytechnic Diploma in Accountancy and Diploma in Accounting & Finance respectively.”

Abubakar, however, expressed concerns over the delay alleged attempt to influence the outcome of the Police investigations and the litigation processes in the Court.
