National Youth Council of Nigeria, Nasarawa state chapter, has led a coalition of youth organisations to pick the PDP governorship nomination form for the former Information Minister, Mr. Labaran Maku to contest the 2015 governorship elections in Nasarawa state.
Chairman of the Council, Comrade Usman Abdulhakim, who spoke to newsmen at the PDP headquarters in Abuja, said the youth resolved to pick the nomination form for Maku to buttress their support for him in the 2015 governorship election.
He said the youth mobilised the funds to buy the nomination form for Maku from the contributions of people across the country who shared their dreams for Nasarawa state as well as their personal donations.
Abdulhakim said all the youth groups in Nasarawa state had earlier endorsed Mr. Labaran Maku as their sole candidate for the governorship of Nasarawa state in 2015.
He said after a diligent survey of all the governorship aspirants in the state, Maku emerged as the most accepted choice of the people with the requisite leadership qualities that would develop the state.
He said Maku’s pedigree as a student union leader, a journalist, a former Commissioner and former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa state as well as former Information Minister had placed him far above other contenders for the governorship of the state.
He underscored the resolve of the youths to mobilise their numerical strength and cause a generational shift in the leadership of Nasarawa State in 2015.
The youths in their thousands, who stormed the PDP headquarters in Abuja, were chanting solidarity songs in support of Mr. Maku while displaying placards with inscriptions like “2015: Maku Carry Go,” “Maku: Nasarawa’s Choice,” “Vote for Peace and Progress.”
