Nasarawa workers join nationwide protest

Workers in Nasarawa state under the organised labour turned out in large number to participate in the mass nationwide protest against the fuel subsidy removal by federal government.

The state chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Comrade Ismaila Oko, Wednesday, called on the federal government to reconsider its stand on the fuel subsidy removal, considering the negative effects on the living standard of the citizens.

He added that the government should immediately roll out whatever they have to do to improve the lives of the workers and the masses before things get out of control.

The union consisting of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), marched along Shendam road in Lafia the state capital to the Government House to present a letter of protest to the state government.

The letter of protest was presented to the Head of Civil Service, Barr. Abigail Waya for unward delivery to Governor Abdullahi Sule.

The Head of Civil Service lauded the workers for conducting themselves peacefully throughout the march, and promised to brief Governor Sule about their grievances.

She further said, already, committees for palliative had been constituted by the federal and Nasarawa state governments on their plight.
