Nasarawa to host 6th mining council in November

Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Mr. Dele Alake, has said that the 6th National Council for Mining and Mineral Resources Development would be held in Nasarawa state.

The minister made the disclosure, Friday, at the Government House, Lafia, while on courtesy visit to Governor Abdullahi Sule.

Represented by Engr. Obadiah Simon Nkom, Director-General Nigerian Mining Cadastre office, Alake explained that the 6th National Council for Mining and Mineral Resources Development will come up in November 2024.

He explained that the choice of Nasarawa state was informed by the commitment and visibility of Governor Sule.

” Particularly, looking at all these aspects we hold his contributions so dear and as well a critical stakeholder in the mining sector,” the minister said.

According to Alake, the governor’s achievements towards the Renewed Hope Agenda in the mineral sector can never be overemphasized, as demonstrated in the ground breaking event of inauguration of Gafeng Lithium processing and the Avartar New Energy Lithium processing plant in Nasarawa LGA as the largest Lithium processing factory in the world.

” From records available Nasarawa state is joining the league of four state earning above N1bn in the federation allocation accruing from solid minerals royalties earning,” he said.

Speaking, Governor Sule appreciated the minister for the visit, and reechoed that the welfare of mining communities will always be the top priority of his administration.

He expressed satisfaction that the crisis of interest between mining companies in Nasarawa Local Government axis based on the recommendation of a committee’s report has been resolved by the Federal Ministry Solid Minerals Development.
