Nasarawa: Sule to provide incentives to willing investors

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state Monday said he will  provide incentives to willing investors that have shown interest to assist government to achieve its objectives in the state.

Sule stated this while inaugurating the fourteen man committee on investment and economic advisory council in Lafia.

He said the committee would adopt  new strategies that would make the state more economically viable and also  provide  effective mechanism for engaging the private sector on matters relating to investment and economic development in the state.

“Government shall explore the Public – Private Partnership (PPP) approach to finance special infrastructural development projects, as well as deploy strong political will to provide incentives to willing investors that have shown interest to assist government achieve its objectives”.

The governor explained that government would establish a one-stop shop Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to process, regulate, manage and also drive the investment initiatives across the globe.

He said his administration was also designed to launch Nasarawa state on the path of progress and development for socio-economic prosperity and called on citizens to cooperate and support the committee in order to enable them facilitate the inflow of domestic and foreign investments to the state.

“The council is expected to leverage on their experience and network to unlock any possible constraints that might have hindered the progress of the economic potentials of the state and facilitate the inflow of domestic and foreign investments to the state.”

The council is to be guided by fourteenth terms of reference: which include support and advise the government on the development of policies, programmes and strategies which will encourage investment and economic development of the state.

The council will also advise government on matters relating to the attraction of domestic and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the state amongst others.

The committee imembers include Prof. Kenyisola Ajayi, SAN  to serve as chairman, Abubakar Balarabe Mohammed, SAN, Dr Adeyemi Dipeola , Chief Roberts Orya  and  Gen Ahmed Abdullahi Aboki (rtd).

 Others are:  Dr Faisal Shu’aib,  Dr Lazarus Angbazo, Dr Kasim Hussein,  QS Adamu Aliyu,  Imaan Suleiman Ibrahim, Dikko Tahir Bala, Dr George Manuike, Dr Roseline Kela and brahim Abdullahi Essey Magaji to serve as Secretary.
