Nasarawa: Sule tasks new LG chairmen on transparency, unity

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state has sworn in the newly elected chairmen of the 13 local government areas in the state with a charge for transparency.

During the swearing in on Monday in Lafia, the governor said transparency and accountability should be the bulwark of their duties.

According to him, “You are to embrace transparency, accountability, probity and above all, the prudence in the management of public resources.

Governor Sule further charged the new chairmen to promote unity and peace in their respective local government areas.

He equally urged them to execute projects and programmes that would have direct bearing on the lives of their people.

“Your emergence is a reflection of confidence that the electorate reposed in you. Therefore, justify the confidence reposed in you by turning around the fortune of your respective local government areas,” he said.

Sule also commended security agencies for maintaining peace before, during and after the election in the state.

Responding, the chairman, Lafia local government area, Hon. Mohammed Haliru, thanked the people of the state for electing them, and promised to lead with the fear of God.
