Nasarawa: Police Commissioner disowns nomad vigilante group 

The Nasarawa state Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu Nadada, has described the emergence of Nomad Vigilante Group in Nasarawa state as illegal and not recognised by the state police command. 

He stated this on Tuesday when the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Nasarawa state council, paid him a courtesy call in his office in Lafia.

He said there was no formal report to the police about the formation of the group and did not recognise since no one inform the police about its formation. We condemn the group, the CP reacted.

Nadada further assured members of NUJ that the state command is determined and committed to work in synergy with practising journalists in the state for effective information dissemination on the activities of the police.

He called on journalists to seek and verify information from the appropriate authority before publication for the public consumption.

Blueprint recalled that the National President of Myetti Allah Kautal Hore, Bello Bodejo on the 17th of January, 2024 inaugurated over 1144 nomad vigilante groups in Nasarawa state, a situation which triggered public reaction and apprehension in the state and beyond.

State chairman of NUJ in Nasarawa,  Salihu Mohammed Alkali, commended the state  CP for his  efforts towards combating crime in the state.
