Nasarawa gov assures residents of adequate security

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state Wednesday, assured citizens of the state of adequate security and safety of their lives and property.

Sule gave the assurance when he summoned an emergency meeting with the security chiefs, following an attack on the convoy of his deputy Emmanuel Akaabe at the outskirts of Akwanga local government area on Tuesday night.

He said his administration would put in place the needed security measures to guarantee the safety of lives and property of the while urging the the residents to remain calm.

“I am committed to the security situation of the state and I encourage you not to relent on your efforts because of what happened yesterday. This has come from people who actually do not belief in progress and we cannot allow them to overcome us”.

He however, charged the security chiefs to continue to put extra efforts to protect the people of Nasarawa state.

 “Every citizen in Nasarawa state has the right to move freely and we cannot allow criminal elements to stop us from lawful business,” he said.

Sule who promised to support the family of the victims said, “money cannot solve their problems we strongly believed that they are in shock now and they are also going through difficulties but we will give them every support to ensure they overcome the sad loss”.

The state commissioner of police, Bola Longe, appealed to citizens to continue with their lawful business, assuring them that their lives and property would be well protected.

He stressed that the perpetrators would not go unpunished and that a manhunt has already commenced to arrest and make them face justice.
