As Nasarawa state citizens go out to exercise their franchise by electing new sets of council chairmen and councilors to fill in 13 local government areas of the state, the Doma LG chairmanship candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Honourable Jonathan Addra, has described the process as peaceful.
Speaking after casting his vote, Addra said the election was peaceful describing it, “as the best ever conducted in the local government area.”
He explained also that the ruling party was going to be victorious in all positions contested in Doma.
He added, “The election is a popular election. It’s free and fair and the people are conducting themselves in the must expected manner thereby making it the best election ever conducted so far in this local government.”
Also speaking during the exercise as he also cast his vote, the deputy hovernor of the state, Mr. Emmanuel Akabe, described the election as peaceful one as he further commended the electorates for conducting themselves peaceful during the exercise.
It was observed that out of nine political parties that participated in the exercise, PDP and NNPP withdrew from the elections.
The two political parties alleged that the ruling party had already allocated seats to its loyalists.
Overall, the election was characterised by massive turnout as most of the poll units visited were crowded particularly in Doma LG area.
