Namadi signs N298.14bn Jigawa 2024 appropriation bill into law

Jigawa state governor, Mallam  Umar Namadi Thursday signed the 2024 appropriation bill of N298.14 billion into law.

The governor signed the budget into law at the Government House, Dutse a week after it passed its third reading at the state House of Assembly following a thorough scrutiny by the law makers.

Governor Namadi had on November 15, 2023 presented the sum of N298.14 billion before the state House of Assembly which was approved.

The bill tagged ‘Budget for a Greater Jigawa’ is almost 23 per cent higher than the total appropriation for the 2023 fiscal year.

“I want to use this opportunity to thank the state House of Assembly for their speedy passage. I have come to learn the kind of scrutiny the MDA’s have gone through which they have never gone through in their lives.

“That shows the members have done the needful and what is right for the 2024 appropriation bill. I urge you to continue with their constitutional responsibilities, when it comes to implementation of this budget, I want you to also undertake your oversight functions to ensure that it is implemented accordingly,” Namadi stressed.

He said on the side of the executive, the document was arrived at after thorough consultations with all stakeholders by the citizens of state, promising to make good use of the opportunity provided by the fiscal document.
