NAHCON chair urges journalists to be stakeholders in Hajj exercise

Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria ( NAHCON), Barrister Abdullahi Muktar Muhammad, has urged members of the 2019 Hajj national media team to go beyond reportage and be part of major stakeholders in ensuring the success of Hajj operations.

The commission chairman said this during an interaction session with the media team in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

He who commended the members of the 2019 National Media Team for their professional conduct in the coverage of the just concluded Hajj, said the Commission was highly impressed with the members’ balanced reportage of the exercise.

He advised the journalists to sustain the spirit of working in harmony in the interest of the country.

He appealed to them to play down the financial benefits of the assignment and consider the huge spiritual gains of being among millions of other Muslims to fulfill one of the Pillars of Islam.

The chairman said the commission was making arrangement to organise interactive sessions with Saudi Information and Media authority to educate journalists on how best to go about their assignments unhindered and diligently.

He said the 50-member media team has been accredited by the Saudi authorities, and expected to operate within the laws.
