NAFDAC warns manufacturers against substandard, falsified products

Director General (DG) of National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Professor Mojisola Adeyeye, has issued note of warning to manufacturers hiding under the guise of convergence and cooperation and engaging in clandestine practices that violate extant regulations.

She also warned against acts that constitute significant risks to public health, adding   that NAFDAC’s mandate is to safeguard public health and it will not in any way give up.

She said some local and foreign manufacturers are currently being sanctioned for direputable practices and post marketing failures.

Adeyeye made this remark at the India-Nigeria Pharmaceuticals and Health Industry forum organised in Lagos with the aim of providing concrete steps toward birthing, actualising and strengthening mutual benefits for pharmaceutical business in both countries.

She noted that the prognosis for the pharmaceutical business in Nigeria and India, the population dynamics and associated health indices provide a common baseline for strong synergy between both countries.

Adeyeye said it is without any iota of hesitation to state that these indicators hitherto mentioned are reasons why the regulatory landscape between both countries must of necessity be explored for the good of their citizens.
