The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has said some foods and body creams are causes of kidney failure, diabetes, cancer and hypertension.
The disclosure was made in Ilorin, Kwara state, at the weekend by the agency’s director of public affairs, Abubakar Jimoh, who called on Nigerians to watch the kind of food they eat and body cream they use.
According to him, with the high rate of drug abuse in Nigeria, the country is sitting on a keg of gunpowder.
Jimoh said about 15 million Nigerians are on drugs and three million of them could be conveniently called drug addicts.
He said this was why the agency concluded that the level of drug abuse had led to the high level of violence, kidnapping, terrorism, armed robbery and even dangerous driving.
