N32m fi ne: NCAA panel hears First Nation Airline’s appeal

Th e Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), yesterday constituted a fi ve-man panel to hear an appeal fi led by First Nation Airline against sanctions imposed on the airline. Th e sanctions came after First Nation and one of its pilots allegedly violated safety regulations in November 2016. Th e airline and the aff ected pilot were subsequently fi ned N32 million and N1.5 million respectively.

Th e regulator, in a letter written to the airline on May 9, informed the airline that the chairman and members of the panel had considered their request and fi xed new dates for hearing and determination of the appeal. Th e new dates, PREMIUM TIMES gathered, are Tuesday and Wednesday. Members of the appeal panel are drawn from two other airlines, a private aviation lawyer and observers from the NCAA. Th e panel has since commenced sitting.
