N30,000 minimum wage: Jigawa govt, unions begin negotiation

Jigawa state government committee on new minimum wage has commenced negotiation with the Labour Unions representatives at a meeting held in the state Monday.


This was contained in a statement signed by the Jigawa State Acting Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Hussaini Ali Kila and made available to reporters in Dutse through his Public Relations Officer, Samaila Ibrahim.


According to him, the members of the committee, under the

chairmanship of the state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Umar Namadi.


While the members were the Permanent Secretary, government House, Permanent Secretary, Directorate of Establishments, office of the Head of the Service, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance to mention but few.


Others include the representatives of Ministries, boards, parastatals and agencies while the Acting Head of the Civil Service serves as Secretary respectively. 


While on the side of the Labour Unions, ten representatives have been nominated by the Joint Public Service Negotiation Council as members of the Committee, including Comrade Hassan Auwalu – Chairman Joint Public Service Negotiations Council.
