The newly appointed chairman, Kano states Board of Internal Revenue, Alhaji Sani Abdulkadir Dambo, has expressed his determination to generate the sum of N10 billion monthly for the Kano state government.
Speaking to newsmen in his office, Dambo said the issue of generating substantial revenue for the Kano state government has become imperative in view of the dwindling oil revenue accruing to all states of the federation as a result of the appalling slump in the price of oil in the international market.

According to him, the laws governing tax collection were introduced by the federal government for decades, adding that it was an abiding obligation on all states to collect taxes in line with the laid down rules and regulations.
He said paying tax by the wealthy individuals and corporate organisations was a common practice all over the globe saying even the informal sector and public servants were not immune from fulfilling such an obligation.
He, however, stated that employing subtle diplomacy and persuasion was the best form of convincing the most affluent class and individual to pay tax stressing that the amount of tax one is obliged to settle is based on his economic fortune or level of income affirming that the attitude of unilateral increment was unlawful.

He, pointed out that the Ganduje administration had never meant to be at daggers drawn with any tax payer rather he would want to settle the issue by employing a simple logic to convince everyone that he was not willing to use executive fiat in generated revenue for the state government.
He further revealed that the essence of collecting tax was to execute meaningful projects for the masses in an ideal democratic setting stressing however that without paying tax as and when due no project could ever be executed for the benefit of the entire citizens.
