N/ Assembly reconvenes Tuesday

The National Assembly will reconvene on Tuesday, August 14, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yussuff Lasun, has announced.
This is sequel to a joint Wednesday’s leadership meeting of principal officers of the Senate and the House.
According to Lasun, the lawmakers will consider during plenary, the budget request to fund operations of the Independent National Electoral Commission ahead of the 2019 polls. The lawmakers proceeded on recess July 24, and expected to resume in September. They will however be reconvening to trash some issues of national importance, pending before them.
The items include; priority attention to the supplementary budget for 2019 general election, and the confirmation of some of President Muhammadu Buhari’s nominees, including Chairman of the Board of Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria, Dr. Muiz Banire.
The joint leadership meeting earlier scheduled for Tuesday was botched by operatives of the State Security Service who took over the National Assembly, and blocking lawmakers from gaining access.
