My ultimate goal is to hand over to APC governor in Nasarawa – Sule

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state has revealed that his ultimate goal as a governor was to hand over the government to an elected All Progressives congress (APC) governor in the state by 2027.

He stated this during the APC stakeholders meeting on Monday, at the Government House Lafia.

Governor Sule said, “As you all know and for those who don’t know, my ultimate goal now as a governor is to hand over to another APC governor in 2027.

“The bottom line is that you could not know the difference until we are no longer in that office. A lot of us here are able to come easily and see me and go.

“Belief me, no matter who you are, no matter what you do, it is not going to be that easy to come in and go out so easily if it not another APC governor that we are handing over to”.

He charged the APC stakeholders in the state to work together as one family in order to get best of results during the forthcoming local government elections.

Governor Sule said, “If we have any dream, whatsoever projects we will do, the best we can do in the areas of education, health, agriculture and everything one can think of to make Nasarawa state proud, that will not mean much to me unless we work together and hand over to another elected governor under APC in 2027”.

The governor, however, said he had forgiven those who went against him during the last election. “What happened in 2019, 2023, had happened and gone and God has given us success.

“So I have no problem whatsoever in holding grudges against any other person even if I am handing over to another APC who actually did not support me in 2019 and 2023, so be it, as long as it’s APC, I will be happy to hand over to that person.

He, however, apologised for the breach in the timetable for the local government election that was earlier scheduled to take place in 31st August 2024, saying it was due to litigations that it could not hold, but rescheduled to take place 22nd October 2024.

“I want to send sincere apology for the out breach in the timetable that we have for this election. I believe you all know that the reason why we are having this breach is because of the fact that we have a court action against us.

“So we needed to wait for the outcome of it, and we thank God that the judgement is in our favour and that is the reason why they have to work very hard to ensure that we have this election soon”, Governor Sule explained.
