Mugabe’s presidential nostalgia

As the saying goes, it is no crying over spilt milk; if only makes it salty for the cat. President Robert Gabriel Mugabe was in power for 37 years, 93 years, was until his resignation the world’s oldest leader, another record. At least 60% of all Zimbabweans were born in the period when Mugabe was in power.
Mr Mugabe would be remembered by shifting his country naked. In 1980s when he took power, it was said of him that he had the largest number of degrees of any leader in the world – and he had degrees. It was said that he was a passionate revolutionary and he was a passionate revolutionary. It was said that he had liberated Rhodesia renamed Zimbabwe into a great country – and for the first 10 years he did a good job.
There and then something happened. Different political analysts, commentators and different ways of saying – said after Mugabe’s first wife Sallay died of cancer. He married Grace Marufu and it has never been the same again. Grace Marufu more than 40 years his junior has risen from presidential typist to the most powerful woman in Zimbabwe.
Her alleged appetite for extravagant shopping earned her the Moniker Gucci Grace.
Personally, I think the end of Mr Mugabe’s era snowballed in the early of November 2017, when Mrs Mugabe described her rival, Vice President Mnangagwa, as a “Snake” which “must be hit on the head”. The next day President Mugabe sacked him.
The situation coupled with speculation that Grace Mugabe may likely replace the sacked VP with the intention to eventually emerge as President.
The armed forces become uncomfortable with the kind of things going on and placed Mugabe under house arrest.
The army also talked about the economic situation in the country that has pauperised the people. Before his resignation, Mr Mugabe presided over a country where there was 90% unemployment. He presided over a country which does not have currency but have a central bank.
It is crystal clear that all the historical dividends he had accumulated have now been squandered. This is unprecedented in the history of modern civilization. Zimbabwe was beleaguered under Mugabe – the people of Zimbabwe were bewildered.
The impunity of the fouling utterances of Mr Mugabe’s deranged old vulture was an indicative of the moral descent of the leadership in the country.
Mr. Robert Gabriel Mugabe showed that he was a clever fellow on Tuesday 21st, 2017. He has realised that the game is over and better for him to quietly go and rest for the remainder of his years on earth.
He would be remembered as a passionate revolutionary or dictator by the Zimbabweans. With Grace Mugabe, Mr Mugabe is now from GRACE TO GRASS.
Mr Mugabe was strong, wise and tough but was brought down by a woman.
If it is for him to get a state funeral, it might not happen!
