Mpape bank robbery: Police nab fleeing gang member

Operatives of the FCT Police Command have arrested a fleeing member of the robbery gang reportedly behind last Saturday’s foiled robbery attempt at a bank in Mpape area of the territory. A press statement by the Police Public Relations Officer for the command, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, Thursday in Abuja said: “Following the on-going investigation in the last Saturday’s foiled robbery attempt at a bank in Mpape, Operatives of the FCT Police Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad have arrested one Ernest Ewim, 29, a member of the notorious armed robbery gang who has been at large.”The suspect who played a major role in the foiled robbery attempt was arrested by the team of Police Detectives at his hideout in Katampe1 on Wednesday, January 1, 2020, at about 1600hrs.


“With this arrest, the total number of suspects arrested in connection with the foiled robbery is now five: Ernest Ewim, 29; Larry Ehizo, 30; Princewill Obinna, 24; Timothy Joe, 21; and Elijah David, 19 years.”


The spokesperson reiterated the command’s unwavering commitment to ensure the protection of lives and property and provide FCT residents with quality service delivery.
He said the suspects would be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation.
